Is Hawaii a Good Destination for Multigenerational Family Trips?

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

Known for its gorgeous scenery, beautiful sandy beaches, the friendliness of the people, and an abundance of exciting activities, Hawaii is a place where family members of all ages can enjoy.

Multigenerational family trip to Hawaii

Multigenerational travel has been gaining popularity over the years. Many people are eager to give their family the gift of experiences and stories to tell, rather than physical gifts. They want to create stronger bonds and create happy memories while still being able to, and there is no better destination than Hawaii.

Traveling to Hawaii is logistically easy. The hassle of getting passports ready, changing currency, and numerous stops at customs are non-existent. Therefore, getting all members of your family prepared to go will be quick and easy.

ACTIVITIES

For the younger members of your family (and even older members with a sense of adventure), water activities will be a big hit. They can go surfing in the ocean, kayaking through local rivers, deep-sea diving, and snorkeling. They can swim with dolphins and even go night diving with manta rays! Away from the water, they can go ziplining and hike through canyons, lava fields, rainforest, and gorgeous green valleys.

For family members who are not adventure buffs and would instead enjoy their vacation with slower-paced activity, there are tons of options. They can take a guided tour of the island, hang out at the beach, watch the wildlife (and people!), or tour one of several botanical gardens.

Multigenerational family travel allows you to introduce your family to new things. Hawaii is an excellent place for your family to embrace healthy eating. Farm to table is a big part of Hawaiian cuisine. Having the perfect climate for growing fruits like mango, lilikoi, and pineapple, Hawaii is the ideal place to get your family accustomed to better eating habits and introduce them to new fruits and vegetables that are delicious and fresh.

You cannot visit Hawaii without attending an authentic Hawaiian Luau. You will feast on foods like Kalua Pig, Haupia, and Poi while performers tell stories through hula dance. Your family will talk about the Luau for years to come.

ACCOMMODATIONS

With Hawaii being a popular travel destination, there are tons of accommodation options available to you and your family. From family-friendly resorts with entertaining kids' clubs and pools (complete with lazy rivers and waterslides) to luxurious vacation homes, this is often the hardest decision to make. I love matching my clients with accommodation options I know will check all of their boxes.

Hawaii is an excellent choice for a multigenerational family trip. It's appeal cuts across all age groups, and it will be a good opportunity for you and your family to start new traditions and create bonds (and memories) that will last a lifetime.

With hundreds of choices to make when planning travel, the process can be overwhelming and stressful. I help people choose, plan, and book luxury travel experiences to Hawaii and other tropical destinations so they can feel prepared, relaxed, and excited about their next vacation. I also make sure my clients experience premium tours with knowledgeable guides and plenty of opportunities to explore their destination at their own pace.
