Which Hawaiian Island Should I Visit?
Updated: Sep 12, 2021
Hawaii is a beautiful collection of islands, each with its own unique personality! With six islands to choose from, it can be confusing to pinning down the right one for your next vacation – and I am here to help you make the best decision!
To settle on the best destination, start by making a list of what types of vacation activities appeal to you and your travel companions.
Are you a beach bum or thrill-seeker? Do you enjoy quietly dining with your loved ones at a beautiful hotel, or do you want the excitement of nightlife? Do you want to hike up and down trails, or do you want to lounge by the beach reading your favorite book?
Understanding your personality and what appeals to you during a vacation will help you decide exactly where you want to go! Whether you want relaxation, adventure, history, culture, or fine dining – there are several options for you. Prioritize your needs to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience.
Here are just a few options:
Vibrant City Life

If you love the thrill of city life, then there’s only one destination for you – Oahu. In fact, you can end your reading here! Oahu offers it all, from fine dining to a vibrant club scene. Oahu also offers more shopping options than other islands.
If you have had enough of the city or want a calmer-paced holiday experience, then one of the other islands will be for you.
Unique Festival Experience
For many tourists visiting Hawaii, the festivals are part of the attractions they expect to see. For festival lovers, planning far in advance is crucial as accommodations fill up fast. With different festival seasons on the islands, having a reference guide will save you from disappointment. For a complete list + a calendar, check out www.gohawaii.com.
If you love coffee as much as I do, you may want to check out the Big Islands annual Kona coffee festival held every November.
Kids in tow?

If you are traveling with kids, the two best islands for you are Maui and Oahu. These two islands offer a little more to do for the little ones. To ensure they have just as good of a vacation as you, we can work together to chose a resort with a fantastic kids club!
Once you’ve figured out what kind of traveler you are and what you want out of your vacation, take my QUIZ. I will ask you questions about what activities sound appealing, what kinds of beaches you are looking for, and more about your personality to find which island is best for your next vacation!
